My name is Ella Reava and I'm an aspiring high school English teacher. This is my teaching website, where I post my ideas for what I want to bring into my classroom, books I strongly recommend students read, future student works and projects along with links to other various helpful websites. This website will continuedly be getting updated, so check back to see what's happening next!
One fun fact about me is that I am deaf. I was born with progressive hearing loss and by the time I was two years old, I had lost about maybe 95% of my hearing. I wear cochlear implants, which lends me the ability to hear. However, it works much like an prosthetic limb works for an amputee. My hearing isn't perfect and is definitely not the same as what people with normal hearing have. That being said, it does not impair my ability to be a student and it will not impair my ability to teach. It will mean that I will have to learn how to adapt and learn tricks and techniques to help me in the classroom, specifically with understanding what my students are saying. Unfortunately, I have not found a lot of documentation or help for deaf teachers, so I will also be using this website to post my own experiences as a deaf teacher with some tricks and strategies that I pick up along the way. I am excited to pursue my career as a educator! Check out the website, there's something for everyone. Thank you! Ella Reava
